Increasing awareness, social engagement, and importance of research and innovation for underrepresented highschool students
Black, Hispanic and Indigenous American representation in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) remains low compared to Caucasians and Asians of Indian and Far Eastern Asian descent. These two groups have experienced growth in STEM over the past decade. Southeast Asians which include Vietnamese, Hmong, Cambodian, Laotian, Filipino, Thai, Malay, Burmese and Brunei are often under-represented. Asian groups must be assessed case by case since there are groups which continue to be under-represented.
